#48 BUBBA DOG BEER - YELLOW ROSE BREWING CO.

Another casuality of the craft brew boom and bust cycle. I'm not really surprised at how often breweries fail, as many businesses do, but that there are so many small enterprises trying to fight their way into a macrobrewery world. I suppose that it's more a passion like anything else is. A costly one at that.

This beer was produced by the Yellow Rose Brewing Company, a wonderful Sn Antonio brewery that produced, among magnificent stout known as Wildcatter stout, and an excellet porter, known as Vigilante Porter. The brewery was financially successful, but the owner grew tired of the business and closed it down. I understand that Great Grains bought the name and moved the brewery to Fort Worth, but the new owner was never able to produce beers of the same quality as the original, perhaps because Fort Worth does not draw its water from the Edwards Aquifer, made famous by Pearl Beer as the "Country of 1100 Springs."

That's too bad. Thanks for that bit of interesting history though.

A brief amendment to my previous comment. Great Grains was apparently in the habit of mislabeling their beers and has been shut down for this reason. Details at http://www.realbeer.com/news/articles/news-002261.php.

What a horror story. Can't they just put a sticker on the label with correct location? Always meddlers mucking things up.
